The ad, which CNBC reported will premiere on the network Thursday at 9 a.m., targets four billionaires who have been publicly critical of Warren’s plan which would add an additional tax on them based on their net worth.

“It is time for a wealth tax in America,” Warren says in the minute-long video, speaking at a campaign rally. “I’ve heard that there are some billionaires who don’t support this plan.”ADVERTISEMENT

The ad then cuts to clips of billionaires Leon Cooperman, Joe Ricketts, Lloyd Blankfein and Peter Thiel discussing Warren and her proposed wealth tax.

Warren then goes on to explain her usual pitch for the plan, noting that billionaires build their fortune “at least in part” using workers “all of us helped to educate,” and roads and bridges “all of us helped to build.”

“We’re Americans, we want to make these investments,” she says in the ad. “All we’re saying is, when you make it big, pitch in 2 cents so everybody else gets a chance to make it.”

Cooperman, a billionaire investor, hit back at Warren’s ad, which also called out the Omega Advisors CEO for being charged with insider trading.

Cooperman settled with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 2017 and paid nearly $5 million in fees.

“In my opinion, she represents the worst in politicians as she’s trying to demonize wealthy people because there are more poor people than wealthy people,” Cooperman told CNBC.

“As far as the accusations of insider trading, I won the case,” he continued. “She’s disgraceful. She doesn’t know who the f— she’s tweeting. I gave away more in the year than she has in her whole f—ing lifetime.”

Warren’s campaign has pushed back on the criticism from billionaires.

The plan calls for a 2 percent tax on households with a net worth between $50 million and $1 billion, and a 6 percent tax on a net worth above $1 billion.

After billionaire Bill Gates called out the plan last week, Warren’s campaign rolled out a “calculator for the billionaires,” an interactive tool that releases the campaign’s own estimates of what billionaires would pay under the tax.

Warren has said the wealth tax would help fund a number of her progressive proposals, including her plans for universal child care, universal pre-k, student loan forgiveness and universal free college.

A title change headlined the final episode of NXT before Worlds Collide.

Keith Lee overcame interference by Undisputed Era and defeated Roderick Strong to win the NXT North American Championship. A brawl between Undisputed Era and Imperium then closed the show in advance of their eight-man tag match at Saturday’s Worlds Collide special.

Rhea Ripley will defend her title against Toni Storm at Worlds Collide. Storm faced off with Io Shirai last night, but the match ended in a disqualification and turned into a brawl between Storm, Shirai, Bianca Belair, and Ripley.

Following last night’s semifinals, the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic are set for next Wednesday. It will be The Grizzled Young Veterans and Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne facing off with the Dusty Cup on the line.

A grudge match between Tegan Nox and Dakota Kai is also being advertised for next week’s NXT.

The card for NXT TakeOver: In Your House is up to five officially confirmed matches.

NXT’s Instagram account announced last night that Keith Lee will defend his North American Championship against Johnny Gargano at TakeOver: In Your House. Lee and Mia Yim have recently been feuding with Gargano and Candice LeRae.

Yim and LeRae will face off on next Wednesday’s episode of NXT.

Lee has been NXT North American Champion since winning the title from Roderick Strong in January. Gargano previously held the title in early 2019.

“Bullet” Bob Armstrong, the leader of the famed Armstrong wrestling family, has passed away at the age of 80.

The news was first announced by his son, Scott, on Twitter Thursday night. In March, Scott tweeted that his dad came over for a workout despite bone cancer in his ribs, shoulder and prostate — all of which he refused treatment for.

His wife, Vida Gail, died in late-June.

The U.S. Marine born Joseph James began his career in 1960 in Georgia and became an NWA mainstay in the southeastern U.S. before retiring in 1988. He would return to wrestling sporadically from 1992 through 2019, appearing for Smokey Mountain Wrestling, WCW, and TNA/Impact Wrestling as well as various indies. Incredibly, the Georgia-born powerhouse wrestled his last match in 2019, wrapping a career that spanned six decades.

All four of his sons also got into the business in lengthy careers. Brian gained fame as the Road Dogg in WWF/E and still works for the company; Brad (Robert) was a standout for both NWA and WCW, passing away in 2012; Steve wrestled for more than 10 years for several top organizations; and Joseph (known as Scott) has been in the business since 1983 for several top organizations including WWE.

Bob held a litany of titles in Mid-South, Southeastern Championship Wrestling, and various other NWA affiliates. He was named to the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.

About a year ahead of the 2020 election, more than half of Americans view the presidential race as a “significant source of stress,” according to a new survey.

Fifty-six percent of Americans cited the upcoming presidential election as a major stressor, according to the annual American Psychological Association’s “Stress in America” survey released Tuesday.

That’s a jump from what the association found ahead of the 2016 election, when 52 percent of Americans reported the election as a significant source of stress.

Other factors stressing Americans, based on the survey, are issues that have been widely reported over the last year and discussed in the 2020 election.

Mass shootings were the most common source of stress cited by Americans, with 71 percent mentioning it, according to the survey. That’s an increase from 2018 when 62 percent cited mass shootings as a source of stress in the survey.

Healthcare, a hotly debated issue in the presidential election so far, is another significant source of stress for many Americans; it was reported by 69 percent of Americans, with the cost of healthcare being the most commonly cited source of that stress, based on the survey.

Furthermore, the survey found that adults with private insurance are more likely than those with public insurance to say the cost of healthcare causes them stress; 71 percent of adults with private insurance cited the stress and just 53 percent with public did the same.

The survey also found that stress related to climate change and global warming is up from last year, from 51 percent to 56 percent.

The survey was conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of the American Psychological Association between Aug. 1 and Sept. 3. It surveyed 3,617 adults in the U.S. The data is weighted by gender, race/ethnicity, education, region, household income and time spent online.

Weld has been a consistent Trump critic since announcing his White House bid, slamming him as a “racist” who is dangerous for the Republican Party.

“Let’s get one thing out of the way right at the beginning: Donald Trump is a raging racist, OK. He’s a complete and thoroughgoing racist and he made that choice as a choice a long time ago,” Weld said in July.

“And unless the Republican party in Washington expressly, expressly rejects the racism of Donald Trump they’re going to become to be universally viewed as the party of racism in America,” he added.

Weld has hinged much of his challenge to Trump on the New Hampshire primary, hoping a strong finish in his neighbor state can propel his campaign.

Weld served two terms as Massachusetts governor from 1991-1997.

“My aim is to win the New Hampshire primary and if that happens, I think all bets are off. That’s never happened,” Weld said in August.

“I think this is doable, based on what I hear on the ground in New Hampshire,” he added. “I’ve been talking to many more voters than Mr. Trump is up there.”

However, Weld will face an uphill battle to put a dent into Trump’s support among New Hampshire Republicans.

A poll released in July by CNN and the University of New Hampshire found Weld polling at 7 percent in the state Republican primary, while Trump got the support of 86 percent of GOP primary voters.

Campaign crowdfunding platform Crowdpac relaunched on Wednesday ahead of next year’s general election cycle.

Representatives for the political technology company Prytany exclusively told The Hill that the group is acquiring Crowdpac.

The new version of the platform is nearly identical to the original site, with a goal to encourage young, diverse, and progressive candidates to run for office.

The group will be led by Royal Kastens, a political veteran and former staffer to the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass).

“If someone is considering a run, Crowdpac is a way to test the viability of that run – from city school board to President of the United States,” Kastens told The Hill.

Kastens said the group raised close to $16 million between 2014 and 2018.

Forty-six percent of the nearly 3,000 candidates who used the money raised were women, while 29 percent were millennials. Another 20 percent were veterans.

“There’s so much potential to build on that, and engage even more progressive candidates and users in our democratic process heading into 2020 – the most important election of our lifetime,” Kastens said.

The platform’s fee on contributions collected will drop from the previous eight percent to three percent.

Crowdpac, which first launched in 2014, shutdown last May due to a failure to bring in enough money to support itself.

The platform was originally labeled as a non-partisan fundraising site but suspended all of its accounts for GOP candidates last year.

The resurrection comes as Democratic fundraising becomes more reliant on grassroots measures.

The president and several GOP lawmakers have verbally criticized Omar, who Trump called “an American-hating socialist.” Twitter has previously banned the campaign account for Omar’s opponent, Republican Danielle Stella, after she tweeted lynching comments about Omar.

Warren criticized the billionaire for announcing his candidacy Sunday along with a $37 million television ad campaign while at her campaign event in Ankeny, Iowa, calling it “fundamentally wrong,” NBC News reported.

“Michael Bloomberg is making a bet about democracy in 2020,” she said. “He doesn’t need people. He only needs bags and bags of money. I think Michael Bloomberg is wrong, and that’s what we need to prove in this election”

The Massachusetts senator has confronted the wealthy throughout her campaign, including proposing a tax on billionaires. She told her audience in Iowa that the 2020 election will determine how money and democracy interact in the future.

“If Michael Bloomberg’s version of democracy wins, then democracy changes,” she said. “And it’s going to be about which billionaire you can stomach going forward.”

The former mayor has addressed concerns about his wealth by saying he will self-fund his campaign and refuse donations.

Bloomberg stood up for his use of his resources in response to Warren at his first campaign event Monday, saying, “For years I’ve been using my resources for the things that matter to me,” according to a transcript from his campaign.
