Daniel Radcliffe Helped Comfort a Tourist Who Was Mugged

When a tourist ran into trouble in London, Daniel Radcliffe was there to lend a helping hand.

In a violent incident on Friday, a male tourist had a Louis Vuitton handbag stolen by two men who left him with a facial injury, the U.K.’s Evening Standard reports. And following the mugging, which took place on a road in western London, the Harry Potter star and others helped take care of the victim.

According to the newspaper, former police officer David Videcette was driving through the area and scared the muggers off after witnessing them pull out a knife. Videcette tried to follow them, but they got away by running red lights. When he returned to the scene, he found Radcliffe providing assistance to and comforting victim.

“It was a bit of the surreal moment, I said ‘You’re Daniel Radcliffe’ and he replied ‘I am,'” Videcette told the Evening Standard. “He was a really nice bloke, a lot of stars wouldn’t have stopped to help. The victim was very, very shaken up.”

A spokeswoman for Daniel Radcliffe confirmed to the Standard that the actor was present but did not comment further. According to the newspaper, the city’s Metropolitan Police Service issued the following statement about the mugging:
