Serena Deeb will be making her AEW debut tonight on Dynamite.
Deeb will face the NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa in a singles match, AEW social media confirmed this afternoon. This would be her first match since the 2017 Mae Young Classic tournament, where she lost to Piper Niven in the second round.
Following the tournament, she was hired by WWE as a coach at the WWE Performance Center. However, she, along with fellow trainers Kendo Kashin and Ace Steel, were cut in April as part of WWE’s wide-ranging cutbacks due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Thunder Rosa has been seen on Dynamite in recent weeks, challenging AEW Women’s champion Hikaru Shida to a title match at All Out. Shida accepted the match, which will take place this Saturday, September 5.
Deeb previously wrestled for the WWE between 2009-10, with her most prolific role being part of CM Punk’s followers who were collectively known as the Straight Edge Society.
