To Eliminate Accidents, Railways Removes All Unmanned Crossings On Major Routes

In April 2018, 13 school children were killed when a train rammed into a school van at an unmanned railway crossing near Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh. Since then, the government has managed to either to man the railway crossings or remove all level crossings in major routes.

This is a big boost to bring more safety into railways and cut down accidental deaths.

According to records, only around 600 unmanned level crossings will be left by the end of this months. Either subways have been constructed for vehicles to pass or ex-servicemen are brought into service again to man such crossings.
