Update On Kurt Angle's Status For Tomorrow Night's PPV, TNA Wrestlers React

source: PWInsider.com

Kurt Angle remains in custody at Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh and still awaiting arraignment on the multiple charges brought against him this morning as a result of his arrest. Sources within TNA believe he will be arraigned sometime today and then be allowed to head to Florida for tomorrow night’s Hard Justice pay-per-view. It should be noted that TNA is already working on alternative plans incase Angle is unable to appear.

TNA talents spoken with today were surprised by this morning’s turn of events since Angle and the girlfriend are currently living together in his home. Rumors circulated among wrestlers several months ago that Angle had asked her to leave his residence, but they have been seen in public together since then. During an appearance on Howard Stern’s show back in March, Angle said that he and the woman in question were no longer together. Although it could have been part of a lie to get Stern’s sidekick Robin Quivers to go on date with him, which she declined.

Another big discussion among the wrestlers is how ironic the entire situation is after issues between Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarrett over Karen Angle were revealed on Bubba the Love Sponge’s radio show last month. Many are waiting to see how Angle’s arrest may play into Jarrett’s position with TNA going forward.

Will Tony Atlas Be Brought Back To WWE?, "12 Rounds" DVD Sales Revealed, More

source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

— The latest on Tony Atlas’ status with WWE is that he is still under contract to the organization, receiving his downside guarantee. We may not have seen the last of the former Saba Simba on WWE television as there has been talk of having him managing someone down the line.

Back in the spring, there was an angle in place where Mark Henry would turn on Atlas by firing him as his associate, thus making the Hall of Famer a babyface. However, the storyline was dropped cold when the decision was made to move Henry over to Raw and turn him babyface.

— WWE Studios’ 12 Rounds starring John Cena sold 332,000 units on DVD, which is considerably more than the unit sales for WrestleMania 25 on DVD. To compare, Race to Witch Mountain starring former WWE Superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has sold 1,037,970 units for $18 million as of August 16th. It should also be noted that it has only been out for two weeks, whereas Cena’s film has been out on DVD since late June.

— WWE is quite hot in Mexico at the moment as both Raw and SmackDown are among the top 20 television shows in the country. Raw was the fourth highest rated show on Televisa Ch. 5 in May whereas Smackdown was the fourth highest rated show of the month on Ch. 7. For the month of April Raw averaged a 13.1 rating whereas Smackdown did a 13.2. Considering the population of Mexico is 109 million, a 13 rating would equal approximately 8 million viewers.
