Red Dead Redemption 2 developer and publisher Rockstar Games is planning to release the game’s official soundtrack as a standalone product.
The soundtrack features vocal performances from musicians such as Willie Nelson, Nas, and Josh Homme, as well as a track written and performed by David Ferguson, who previously worked as a sound engineer for Johnny Cash. Vocals in the game were produced by Daniel Lanois, who has produced albums for folk legends like Neil Young and Bob Dylan.
The score is a major collaborative effort. It was primarily composed by Woody Jackson, who worked on the original Red Dead Redemption as well as Grand Theft Auto V and L.A. Noire, with additional production handled by Jeff Silverman of Truth and Soul Records.
Other composers who contributed to Red Dead Redemption 2’s soundtrack include:
- Colin Stetson
- David Ferguson
- David Ralicke
- Gabe Witcher
- Luke O’Malley
- Mario Batkovic
- Matt Sweeney
- Rabih Beaini
- Senyawa
Several popular musicians also contributed to the music, including Arca (Kanye West and Frank Ocean collaborator) and Queens of the Stone Age drummer Joe Theodore.
