Star Wars Theme Park Gets Its Own Theme From John Williams

John Williams, the legendary Star Wars composer, will be creating new and original Star Wars themes that will be used exclusively in the upcoming Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme park.

Announced by Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products, Williams, who suggested that Star Wars: Episode IX may be his last Star Wars film, will be a part of Galaxy’s Edge for years to come through his music and, as Disney said, “Star Wars wouldn’t be Star Wars without Williams’ incredible, sweeping scores.”

Disney also revealed a preview of Williams’ work, which you can see below, that was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios and features footage of the construction underway at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

In addition, names and new details for two of the major attractions that will be featured at Galaxy’s Edge on opening day were revealed – Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

In Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, guests will be able to control the “fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy in one of three unique flight crew roles.”

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will put guests “in the middle of an epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order.”

As for the rest of Galaxy’s Edge, guests will be able to “visit a street market in Black Spire Outpost, shop at food stalls where you can enjoy delicacies like blue milk, or visit the Cantina where you can see an old friend, Rex, as well as creatures and characters that are hallmarks of the Star Wars Universe.”

Lastly, Disney shared two new concept images for the Star Wars-themed resort that is coming to Walk Disney World Resort that will allow you to “experience a fully-immersive, multi-day Star Wars adventure aboard a luxury starship complete with high-end dining, space-view cabins, and exciting action.”

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge will open at Disneyland Resort in summer of 2019 and at Walt Disney World Resort in fall of 2019.
