NXT Results (5/15): Tag Team Title War, Kushida Competes, More

NXT is back with another new edition and this one kicked off on a high note, to say the least! The Viking Raiders were out first and what they had to say to NXT General Manager was beyond shocking!

The current NXT Tag Team champions told Regal that since no one could beat them for the titles, they would instead relinquish the belts. This immediately brought The Street Profits out to the ring and the would-be tag team champions made their case for getting a title shot. They also teased Erik and Ivar over their recent name change, which saw them go from The War Raiders to The Viking Experience, to The Viking Raiders.

This caused the champs to demand that Regal make the match, which he did. The two teams would wage war for the gold later in the program.

The Undisputed Era’s recent meltdown from one week ago was shown next, including the confrontation between the four men outside the building. Adam Cole made it clear that Roderick Strong, who removed his Undisputed Era’s T-Shirt, didn’t deserve to wear the group’s colors anymore.

The Undisputed Era was interviewed outside of Full Sail after the segment, when Strong suddenly showed up with Matt Riddle’s flip-flop. Strong told Cole that the Matt Riddle problem had been solved. All of this happened as officials were racing to a disturbance somewhere off-camera.

KEITH LEE VS CEZAR BONONI

A flashback from the NXT Performance Center is shown next, in which Io Shirai attacked Shayna Baszler in the middle of the ring. Shirai versus Baszler was then announced for Takeover XXV for the NXT Women’s Championship.

The Forgotten Sons were then interviewed backstage, furious over not getting a shot at The Viking Raiders for the titles. They stormed into Regal’s office and this led to the next match.

KUSHIDA VS KONA REEVES

Reeves hit the ring first, followed by the former IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion, Kushida. The two men went move for move during the first part of the bout. The match then took an interesting turn, when 205 Live Superstar Drew Gulak made his presence known on the ramp.

Reeves went on the offense, as Gulak watched from his position. Kushida made his comeback and cinched in the Hoverboard Lock, which eventually led to a top rope summersault from The Timesplitter down onto Reeves on the floor. Kushida then grabbed Kona in another Hoverboard Lock, this time on the mat. The move was too much and Reeves was forced to tap out.

WINNER: KUSHIDA

THE STREET PROFITS VS THE VIKING RAIDERS, NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins came out first but Erik and Ivar brought the pain as soon as the bell rang. The Street Profits were quick and flying high, while The Viking Raiders kept the action grounded. But suddenly the match broke down when The Forgotten Sons crashed the party.

This brought out Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch, who joined in the fray. The Street Profits got a mock pin wasn’t official of course and The Viking Raiders were left to clean up the other two teams in the ring. The match and the program ended with no clear-cut winners and no answers.
