Current NJPW IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho has been publicly outspoken in the past about not wanting to do business with any United States based promotion other than WWE, as Jericho has always maintained he has a great relationship with Vince McMahon and would not want to do anything to sour that relationship.
However, in recent months, with Jericho appearing regularly for companies like NJPW and bringing Impact Wrestling into the fold for his upcoming “Cruise of Jericho”, speculation has grown that Y2J might consider the idea of wrestling for another company in the U.S. besides WWE.
In a recent Tweet, Jericho responded by saying “of course” when asked by a fan if he would ever consider appearing for Impact Wrestling. While Jericho is known to troll his fans on Twitter, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has shined some new light on the Jericho – Impact situation.
Dave Meltzer wrote in the most recent Newsletter that while nothing will ever be said publicly, the belief within the pro wrestling business is that Jericho is “destined” to end up in Impact, and the idea of Jericho not wanting to do anything that would upset Vince McMahon is not nearly as strong of a feeling as it was months ago.
As noted, Jericho was a key player in the new Impact Wrestling regime, with Jericho urging top officials, including Anthem Sports & Entertainment’s Leonard Esper, to put Don Callis and Scott D’Amore in charge of the company, so with Jericho allies now in charge over at Impact Wrestling, the likelihood of Jericho winding up in Impact seems greater now than it has ever been.
