Rodrigo Quiroga: France is in a great level

Argentina lost to Poland last Weekend, and will face France in Salta in the last two matches before Final 6 held in Mar del Plata. Argentinean wing spiker Rodrigo Quiroga analyzed the losses against the polish and gave its impressions of their next rival.

After returning to Buenos Aires, Quiroga analyzed Argentina’s performance against Poland: “Despite the losses, it was a positive Weekend: we played against last World League Champions, a great team. First match we were closer to victory than in the second one, but we did a good job and little by little we are reaching our best level. The reason why I didn’t play was merely technical: Javier told me that he wanted to evaluate Bruno and Poglajen. Unluckily, Pereyra got injured and as the list of 12 cannot be modified, I couldn’t play even on Sunday.”

Saturday and Sunday, Argentina will face France in Salta. Quiroga, former captain of Weber’s men, gave his point of view regarding the importance of this weekend’s matches: “The series against France will be very tough, mostly because it’s the last two matches before de Final 6, and we need to find the team to get in our best shape for the finals. Also, we know that France is in a great level, after beating Brazil and Poland. Undoubtedly the two matches will be very hard, but playing at home and with the support of our people, we will try to win and reach Final 6 the best way we can.”

Finally, he explained what playing in Poland means: “Poland is amazing. Playing in their stadiums, with all people cheering in unbelievable. It’s like football in Argentina and other parts of the world, it’s a very nice place to play in. I’m sure next year’s World Cup will be awesome, a real party.”
