Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) faced a full day of testimony the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday as he seeks confirmation to be the next Attorney General of the United States.
Nominated by President-elect Donald Trump, the choice sparked uproar among civil liberties and social justice advocates, some of whom argued that confirmation of Sessions would represent “a threat to all of our civil rights.”
Protests erupted in the hearing room from nearly the beginning of testimony and continued throughout the day.
