Eli Drake Re-Signs With Impact, News on Rousey vs. Jax, Strowman

One young wrestler who has truly made a name for himself in Impact Wrestling over the past few years is Eli Drake. Drake is a former world champion in Impact Wrestling and he is one of the promotion’s biggest stars, but recent reports have claimed that his contract with Impact had expired. While some fans may have been hoping that Drake would sign with WWE, Impact announced on Twitter earlier today that Drake has officially just signed a contract extension. The exact details and length of his new deal were not specified, so it is definitely possible that Drake still could be on his way out soon, but for now, Drake will continue to entertain and compete in Impact for the foreseeable future.

All eyes were on Ronda Rousey during WWE’s recent Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Not only did Rousey compete in her very first singles match during the show, but she was also facing Nia Jax for the Raw Women’s Championship. Fortunately, the match has been praised by most fans so far. According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the match between Jax and Rousey was heavily rehearsed beforehand. Current backstage producer and former WWE Superstar Fit Finaly is being credited as the one who laid out the match. With all of the success that Rousey has had so far in WWE, it certainly appears as if she will continue to have a bright future in the world of pro wrestling.

The Monday Night Raw brand could be losing one of its biggest stars very soon due to an injury. Braun Strowman is the current Money in the Bank contract holder, which guarantees him a shot at Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship at some point in the future. During a recent live event in Anaheim, California, fans noticed that Strowman appeared to have injured his nose. He was said to be bleeding from the nose during the show last night, but it is unclear what exactly may have caused the potential facial injury. Neither WWE nor Strowman have commented on the injury, and he is still expected to be featured on tonight’s episode of Raw. Hopefully, this is just a minor issue that won’t keep Strowman away from the ring for too long.

The Miz Reacts To Lebron James Signing With The LA Lakers

The Miz might be based and currently living in Hollywood, California but he is and will always be a Cleveland boy at heart as he was born and raised there. His favorite NBA Team, The Cleveland Cavaliers, weren’t able to win The NBA Championship this season, and now they have just lost a huge player in Lebron James.
The A-Lister appeared on ESPN’s First Take last month where he put Lebron James over as the greatest player of all time. He was also certain that his Cleveland Cavaliers were going to win The NBA Finals, but that didn’t happen. Now, The Miz appears to have a different disposition on things.
When Lebron James signed to a reported $153.3 million four-year deal with The LA Lakers, The Miz didn’t seem to take it too well. His Cavaliers are have just lost their star player and The Miz needed some alone time. The eight-time WWE Intercontinental Champion wrote the following on Instagram, “Don’t call, don’t text, I need a minute.”

Video Of Lesnar & Cormier Being Pulled Apart At UFC 226

It was previously reported that WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar appeared inside the Octagon following Daniel Cormier’s UFC Heavyweight Championship victory over the now former title-holder Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 226 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada last Saturday night.
Lesnar and Cormier was pulled apart after Lesnar shoved Cormier across the cage, which was followed by Lesnar cutting a profanity-filled promo about UFC Heavyweight fighters Francis Ngannou, Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier, setting up a fight with Cormier for the UFC Heavyweight Championship once his USADA suspension is up in five or six months from now.
WWE released a statement about Brock Lesnar & Daniel Cormier’s future showdown as soon as the show ended last Saturday night, which you can see below:

We don’t know who the next challenger for Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship will be, but we do know his upcoming opponent — UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier.
Cameras caught Lesnar cage side for the main event of UFC 226 between UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic and challenger Daniel Cormier.
After Cormier knocked Miocic out in the first round to become both the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and UFC Heavyweight Champion, he called out Lesnar and invited him into the octagon. Brock immediately shoved the new champ across the cage before delivering a profanity-laden tirade on the microphone.
Later in the night, during the post-show press conference, UFC President Dana White confirmed that Cormier vs. Lesnar would be happening in the future. He added that no date had been set.

Speculation has run rampant over Lesnar’s future for much of this year, starting with Lesnar posing for photos next to White on the night of WWE Elimination Chamber 2018. Lesnar last competed in UFC in July 2016.

Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup XVIII Night 1 Results; Night 2 Card For Saturday
MCW Pro Wrestling brought Night 1 on the 18th Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup on Friday night, July 13, 2018 in Joppa, MD.

Bishop Khan and Malcolm Moses defeated Rush Hour (Tommy Seto, Deion Epps) in a pre-event match!
The night then kicked off in full with action from the Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup Qualifying Matches as Anthony Henry proved dominate over MCW Tag Team champion Joe Keys w/ Amy Rose in an extremely hard hitting match.
In the second qualifier, former MCW Pro Wrestling Rage TV champions collided, but it was Brandon Scott who got the pinfall on Ken Dixon.
In the next qualifier, MCW Tag Team champion Dante Caballero w/ Amy Rose was tactically decisive, defeating former CZW World Heavyweight champion Joe Gacy.

Brian Pillman, Jr. introduced himself to crowd, explaining he was unable to compete to due injuries sustained in the ring. But, he was cut off by Andy Vineberg and Ryan McBride, who proceeded to insult Pillman and his father, until Greg Excellent arrived.
In a non-qualifier for the MCW Rage TV Title, just as it appeared Greg Excellent would retain, Andy Vineberg distracted the referee long enough to spray Greg Excellent in the eyes with an aerosol spray. This allowed Ryan McBride then hit Excellent in the head with his knee brace behind the referee’s back, giving McBride the pin to win the title.
In the fourth qualifying match, Drew Alder controlled the majority of the match, keeping a slow place as he faced wrestling legend 2 Cold Scorpio. But Scorpio was able to outmanuever Adler and landed a moonsault to gain a pinfall victory.

The the next qualifier, Rayo attempted a supercanrana, but was blocked by John Skyler who connected with his Southern Salvation, a Finley Roll off the turnbuckle, allowing Skyler to get the pin to advance to Night 2.
In the last qualifier, Kekoa Mana and James Drake had an intense match-up, but it ended after a superplex from Drake…but both men’s shoulders were down. With a double fall, both men were eliminated from the Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup. General Manager Phil Stamper stated there was presendence and would rematch Kekoa and Drake to start off Saturday night for a last chance entry. However, Ken Dixon, Drew Adler, Joe Keys, Joe Gacy, and Rayo came to the ring also wanting a second chance. Hearing from the crowd, GM Stamper issued a last chance battle royal to start immediately for the last spot in the Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup.

Corporal Punishment came to the ring, saying he’s not wrestling tonight and might not ever again after Malcolm Moses ands Bishop Khan broke two of his ribs. But, as MCW owner, he did pick a new challenge for the MCW Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Title…in both members of The Cartel.
MCW Pro Wrestling Heavyweight champion Bruiser defeated The Cartel (Joe Keys and Dante Caballero) when Ref Becky stopped the match after Keys passed out in the Bruise-mission.

Unseen Footage Of Heyman After RAW, Why Hogan Was Backstage At SD

After a very emotional, heart-felt and brilliant sit-down interview Paul Heyman had with Renee Young last Monday night on RAW, WWE recently released “unseen” footage Of Heyman at the end of the interview which is sure to fuel more speculation on the finish of The Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns Match at SummerSlam. After saying on air that Reigns doesn’t stand a chance, Heyman begins to say “unless…” but promptly takes off his mic and walks away even after pushed to answer by host Renee Young. It was previously reported that Hulk Hogan was backstage at SmackDown last night, leading to some reports that he would be appearing on TV. It is being said that since Hogan lives in the area he was invited backstage, but was never planned to be on TV.

What appears to be a seven-figure catastrophe will ironically be viewed by people who see pro wrestling as nothing more than a Monday night ratings battle as a brilliant maneuver.

It wasn’t either brilliant, nor a maneuver, but the end result of approximately 25 percent of the systems (a figure based on what we’re hearing may be a low estimate) shutting off the Halloween Havoc PPV on 10/25 early and WCW putting the Bill Goldberg vs. Diamond Dallas Page title match on free Nitro the next night was that Goldberg vs. Page broke the all-time cable television viewing record by doing a 7.18 rating (best rating for a cable match in more than ten years dating back to the final quarter of a 45:00 live draw with Ric Flair vs. Sting on March 27, 1988 which did a 7.8) and 10.2 share in 5,367,000 homes or approximately 7,782,000 viewers. This broke the all-time viewership record set on 7/9 for the Hulk Hogan vs. Goldberg title change which was a 6.91 rating in 5,045,000 homes. What was doubly amazing is that this record was set during football season, when traditionally a percentage of the wrestling audience is siphoned off.

Largely because of that one match and a strong first hour, no doubt built by curiosity stemming from the fiasco the previous night, WCW did one of its best ever ratings on 10/26 for a head-to-head situation with a 5.06 rating (5.69 first hour; 5.19 second hour; 4.37 third hour) and 7.60 share. Raw did a 4.48 rating (4.36 first hour; 4.59 second hour) and 6.82 share. In the opposed two hours and six minutes, Nitro did a 4.76 rating. If you take out the first quarter with the Goldberg-Page match which destroyed Raw’s 3.31 opening quarter, Nitro did a 4.44 and Raw did a 4.64. While some would claim this as Nitro ending Raw’s five-week winning streak, the reality is over that five weeks when it came to viewers it was really three wins for Raw and two for Nitro, although both Nitro wins and one Raw win should realistically be called ties. In actual viewers numbers over the head-to-head two hours and six minutes, Nitro had 5,017,000 viewers, consisting of 2,588,000 adult males, 1,196,000 adult females, 628,000 kids 11 and under and 605,000 teenagers. Raw’s 4,648,000 viewers consisted of 2,234,000 adult males, 939,000 adult females, 501,000 kids 11 and under (so Nitro beat them handily) and 974,000 teenagers (the age group Raw remained dominant in). The Steelers-Chiefs football game head-to-head did a solid 14.5 rating and 24 share.

Rock confirms he'll be at Wrestlemania 32 in Dallas

Despite recent speculation that he wouldn’t be at Wrestlemania in 2016 due to ongoing movie commitments, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson confirmed via Instagram Monday that he would indeed make an appearance at the WWE’s marquee event.

The show is expected to set an all-time pro wrestling attendance record and Rock admittedly wants to play his own part in helping set that attendance record.

Here is his official statement:

Wrestlemania 32 will be held at AT&T Stadium in Dallas as part of a big weekend that also features an NXT TakeOver event, the annual Hall of Fame ceremony and the always-raucous post-Mania RAW, traditionally the hottest and most highly rated show of the year.

This will be the fifth straight Wrestlemania appearance for Johnson, who had a two-year break during which he and the company were on tenuous terms in 2009 and 2010. In 2011, he made his return to host the Atlanta show, and got involved in the WWE championship match between John Cena and The Miz, leading to a challenge to Cena at the following year’s show in his hometown of Miami, which would end up being a non-title match.

Following that show, Rock announced that he was “back” and his goal now was to win the WWE World title. He did just that at the following year’s Royal Rumble, ending CM Punk’s year-plus reign. This set up a return match with Cena, who had won the Rumble match. Rock dropped the belt to Cena in the main event of Wrestlemania 29 and suffered a serious injury in that match. The injury delayed the filming of the big-budget Hercules movie and put into question the idea of Rock ever wrestling another match.

In 2014, at the New Orleans Superdome (or Silverdome), the Rock made an announced and unadvertised appeared in the show’s opening segment. He, Steve Austin and Mania host Hulk Hogan went back and forth in an entertaining verbal sparring match. The three shared beers without any physical confrontation.

At least year’s show in another unadvertised, but not unexpected, appearance, Rock appeared again to break up a Stephanie McMahon/Triple H interview segment. This led to a verbal barrage by Stephanie on the Rock in which she also got physical. Not one to bestow physical violent on a woman (especially in this PG era), Rock introduced then-UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey to physically confront Stephanie. Rousey was seated at ringside and entered the ring in perhaps the most memorable moment of the entire show.

This was expected to set up a potential match, or even matches, involving Rock, Rousey, Stephanie and Triple H at this year’s show. Rousey’s movie commitments and UFC contract led to her being taken out of the equation fairly early, and it was reported a couple months back already that Rock would not be available for a match either.

His appearance on the show this year should help to some degree, but him not being in a match will prevent it from making a major impact. Nothing is going to top last year’s appearance and we’ve already seen him wrestle in high-profile matches at recent shows. But this certainly won’t hurt and gives WWE a name with some mainstream credibility to put on the show’s marquee and in advertising hype for the event.

TNA TV taping results (Bethlehem, PA): Kurt Angle vs. Matt Hardy; Feast or Fired returns

Here are the final results from the TNA tapings Saturday in Bethlehem, PA — the final night of the five-day taping. It was advertised as a PPV taping, but ended up being an Impact taping.

– X Division Champion Tigre Uno won three-way over Mandrews and DJ Zema Ion to retain. Shane Helms said he wanted a title match next week.

– Jeff Hardy challenged Matt Hardy for the TNA title, saying he was mad at Matt’s actions in winning the title. Here’s how that happened, btw.

– They had the annual Feast or Fired match with briefcases going to Drew Galloway, James Storm, Grado and Eli Drake. The reveal may be done secretly and not air until the shows from England.

– TNA Tag Champions The Wolves beat Abyss & Crazy Steve via DQ in a tag title match when Steve sprayed mist. Abyss & Steve have a female clown as their valet.

– Jeff vs. Matt for the title was supposed to be next. Eric Young and Bram attacked Jeff. Beer Money made the save. Heels Abyss & Steve joined in and Kurt Angle got involved. Tyrus knocked out Angle and Matt hit Angle with a belt shot, while Young piledrove Jeff through a table doing an injury angle as Jeff went out on a stretcher.

– Awesome Kong beat Velvet Sky. The Doll House also destroyed Madison Rayne after the match.

– Bobby Lashley beat Aiden O’Shea. There is a new character, a woman, who is trying to hit on Lashley after the match.

– TNA Champion Matt Hardy, Reby Hardy and Tyrus were out. Young and Bram came out. Young wanted a title match with Matt. Angle also wanted a title match with Matt.

– X Division Champion Tigre Uno came out to defend his title against Shane Helms. Helms came out in clothes and said the challenge was for Trevor Lee, not him, and Lee beat Uno to win the title.

– Drew Galloway beat Tyrus via DQ when Mike Bennett interfered and hit Galloway with his Feast or Fired briefcase.

– Crazzy Steve won a Hardcore war match by pinning Davey Richards when they were the last two.

– Maria Kanellis did an interview saying women’s wrestling needs a new leader. This brought out Gail Kim. They went at it, so they are going to have a program.

NJPW/CMLL Fantasticamania results: Tanahashi/Volador/Mistico vs. Okada/Mephisto/Guererro

Titan and Mascara Dorada vs. Sho Tanaka and Yohei Komatsu

Good opener. It mostly was Titan and Mascara Dorada looking excellent with a bunch of high flying spots. Titan in particular looks amazing, his fluidity is outstanding. He reminds me a lot of Ricochet in terms of confidence. Tanaka and Titan had some great back and forth, including Tanaka dropping Titan on his head with an awesome German suplex for a nearfall. Titan rollied back and got the win with what looked like a variation of the figure four.

Fuego, Juice Robinson and Kushida vs. Hechicero, Yoshi-Hashi and Gedo

Fuego came to the ring and danced, with Kushida and Robinson following suit. Robinson had a cool flame jacket and Kushida still had the watch mask from the previous night. Solid match. Robinson looked good in spots. Fuego is really one of the more charismatic guys on this tour. Everyone overall looked pretty good; it was your atypical six man tag. Hechicero got the win, submitting Fuego.

Arena Coliseo Tag Team Champions Guerrero Maya Jr. and Angel de Oro vs. Okumura and Bobby Z

This felt flat. Not the work, because it was solid throughout, but the crowd wasn’t into it until the last minute or so, and before that they only popped for the big dives. Maya and Oro did some good stuff, and Okumura and Bobby were fine as rudos but something didn’t click here that would have made it a good match as opposed to just a solid one. Guerrero got the pin for his team, pinning Okumura with a bodyslam into a piledriver.

Ryusuke Taguchi & Stuka Jr. vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Cavernario Barbaro

The entrances were something else. Taguchi came out with all the young lions and they did a choreographed pharaoh dance on the outside. Cavernario and Nakamura came out with new outfits – Cavernario wearing a Fred Flintstone outfit and Nakamura wearing a skull version of his Mexico mask. Nakamura came out with nunchucks shaped like bones while Cavernario took out his outfit revealing “KING OF CAVEMAN STYLE” was painted on his back. As far as a match goes, this was fine, a lot of focus on comedy, but that was the theme of the bout anyway. In terms of presentation, this was one of the better matches on the show. Match as far as ring work was solid. Cavernario submitted Stuka with the la cavernaria.

Jushin Liger & Atlantis & Tiger Mask vs. Tetsuya Naito & Evil & Bushi

Naito did the same deal from yesterday where he had the announcer talk about him for like 2-3 minutes while he stalled in the ring. He teased something with Milano Collection AT again as he shook his hand twice. Atlantis is 53 years old, and doesn’t move super great but still moves very well at his age. Just typical six man stuff throughout, though Atlantis and Los Ingobernables looked good. Evil and Naito were working over Tiger Mask when Naito got the flash roll up he’s done in previous matches and got the abrupt win there.

CMLL Lightweight Champion Dragon Lee vs. Virus

This was good while it lasted, but got less than ten minutes. Weird it got so little time as the crowd was into this and everyone was just kind of surprised when the finish came. Virus did something i’ve never seen before as he countered a hip toss on the outside by running across the apron, launched off and did an arm drag back outside then followed that with a rana. Lee came back, did a double footstomp off the top rope then pinned Virus with a German suplex.

Dragon Lee was celebrating when suddenly someone in a mask came from behind and gave him a German suplex. He unmasked, revealing himself to be Kamaitachi, who had been absent from his tour and was still saying how he was in Mexico. He cut a promo saying there has been a change and tomorrow he’ll take his title back.

Hiroshi Tanahashi & Volador Jr. & Mistico vs. Kazuchika Okada & Ultimo Guerrero & Mephisto

Really exciting main event with a ton of crazy dives. Everyone worked hard, including Tanahashi and Okada and that helped make it a great match, one of the better ones on this tour so far.This was a match dedicated to Black Cat, as his family were in the ring carrying a photo of him and thanked the two promotions before the match. Mistico and Ultimo Guerrero did their same routine yesterday as they were fighting over fan. It was mentioned on my timeline a lot during this match so I have to ask – whatever happened to Mephisto being a part of Bullet Club Latin America? Maybe that part of the BC just fizzled out or something.

There was a very cool triple dive spot from Mistico, Volador and Tanahashi as they took out all of their rivals at once. Ultimo Guerrero have really good chemistry with one another. Mistico has such a small frame though that it’s no wonder he’s injured a lot. Lots of crazy stuff towards the end as Volador, Mistico and Tanahashi all wiped out Guerrero with dives. Volador took out Okada and looked to do something with Mephisto on the top rope but Mephisto countered and his a double underhook facebuster from the top rope and pinned him.

TNA Impact shows minor drop in viewers

TNA Impact ratings last night showed a minor decline from the past two weeks with last night’s 9 p.m. show doing 295,000 viewers and the midnight show doing 112,000 viewers.

The show, built around Matt Hardy vs. Kurt Angle, was the final of the Bethlehem tapings, as next week will be the first of six weeks of shows taped in the U.K. before much larger crowds.

The 9 p.m. show on 1/26 did 339,000 viewers and the midnight replay did 103,000. The combined number on 1/19 was almost identical, both about eight percent higher than last night.

There was little in the way of significant sports competition last night, as the highest rated sports show on television head-to-head was Indiana vs. Michigan college basketball on ESPN that did 1,042,000 viewers.
