WWE was requiring Cruiserweight Classic Competitors to weight in prior to the tournament, to ensure everyone was under 205 lbs. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE is no longer weighing cruiserweight wrestlers now that they’re on the main roster.
One such example is Brian Kendrick, who was billed as 150 lbs during the summertime tournament, and is now listed as 170 on RAW. Meltzer speculated that the cruiserweight changes may have something to do with Vince McMahon. Vince had very little to do with the Cruiserweight Classic but obviously has his hand in the division now that it’s on RAW.
On a related note, Noam Dar was backstage at last night’s RAW but not used. No word yet on when he will make his TV debut.
Last night’s RAW matches saw Cruiserweight Champion TJ Perkins defeat Ariya Daivari in a non-title match, plus tag team action with Sin Cara and Lince Dorado defeating Tony Nese and Drew Gulak. It’s believed that Daivari will be a part of the division going forward. Regarding Cara, he will also be a part of the division going forward. He’s been billed at 205 pounds in the past but is currently being billed at 198 pounds.
