WWE Makes Significant Scheduling Change for WrestleMania 35 Weekend

— WWE has revealed that they are making a major scheduling change for WrestleMania weekend next year in the New York area, by switching the NXT TakeOver and WWE Hall of Fame dates. This April, WWE NXT Takeover: New York will take place on Friday 4/5 with the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony taking place on Saturday evening 4/6, each at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The company first announced the change to those who had purchased travel packages for Wrestlemania week. This would be how the company laid out their events prior to last year, where they decided to have NXT TakeOver on Saturday.

— WWE released the following statement explaining the change:

“WWE will be going back to its previous WrestleMania Week schedule with NXT TakeOver on Friday, April 5 and the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday, April 6. We believe this better serves our fans.”

— The statement “better serves our fans” is interesting in that one can interpret the change as being made so that NXT TakeOver now doesn’t have to run head-to-head with the NJPW/ROH Supershow that is scheduled for 4/6 at Madison Square Garden. As a result, fans now won’t have to pick between the two shows should they want to see both air live on their respective streaming services.
