This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite was supposed to kick off with Christopher Daniels and Kazarian taking on the Best Friends in a first round tag team tournament match. However, SCU’s arrival was cut short by a surprise attack by the Lucha Bros., Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix, who laid out the former Impact/ROH champions in an attack so violent that Daniels ultimately left on a stretcher.
Scorpio Sky, SCU’s third man, then jumped in as a last-minute substitute for his fallen teammate and even wrestled a full match against the Best Friends in his street clothes. At one point he even lost both of his shoes, leading to loud crowd chants of “He’s Got One Shoe!” and then later “He’s Got No Shoes!”
Sky and the beat down Kazarian were able to rally back for a big, emotional victory with support from the Philadelphia faithful, overcoming the odds to advance to the second round of the tournament.
